BAGUIO CITY — A forest fire is raging along the heavily forested area in Itogon, Benguet since Wednesday.
One can see the smoke of the blaze from the Mines View Park in Baguio City.
The smoke started 10:15 am, then reappered three times later until 2:30 pm Wednesday.
The Bureau of Fire Protection confirmed the forest fire Wednesday. However, they could not provide additional details as they are still on the way to another forest fire incident today, Thursday.
FO3 Climson Fang-asan said they are responding to a distress call of a forest fire that is very near structures.
Suppression of forest fire is often difficult in Itogon as the area is inaccessible for fire fighting equipment. There are no roads and sloping terrain marks the area.
