FANS of the American horror franchise Final Destination have something new to scream about: a sixth movie is in the works after 12 years.
Warner Bros.’s panel confirmed the new Final Destination movie during CinemaCon 2023.
The film will be directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who are both known for co-directing the 2018 science fiction thriller film Freaks.
Meanwhile, Spiderman film series director Jon Watts will be writing and producing the film.
Although the plot of the film is yet to be revealed, the film series’ creator and writer Jeffrey Reddick said that the sixth installment of the franchise would not be following the usual Final Destination formula.
Reddick also mentioned that the filmmakers are attempting to cook up something unique for the revival of the film series while trying to remain faithful to the premise.
“I will say that it’s not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.’ And there’s one wrinkle that we kind of added to every movie to kind of like change it up a little bit,” he said in an interview with Dread Central.
“This one is a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established. I think I can say that much,” he added.
The film’s cast and release day are yet to be announced.

About the franchise
Final Destination is a horror movie franchise that began with the release of the first film in 2000.
The film was directed by James Wong and written by Wong and Glen Morgan, and it starred Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, and Kerr Smith.
The basic premise of the Final Destination series is that a group of people cheat death when they narrowly avoid a catastrophic event, such as a plane crash or a highway pile-up. However, death has a way of catching up with them through seemingly random and gruesome accidents.

The films are known for their inventive and gruesome death scenes, which often involve Rube Goldberg-style contraptions and unlikely accidents.
There have been five sequels to the original Final Destination movie, each following a similar formula of a group of people cheating death only to be pursued by its supernatural forces.
The films have been successful at the box office, and the franchise has become a cult classic in the horror genre.
