PAROKYA ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee recently entertained a very special visitor in his hospital room, OPM icon Ebe Dancel.
Dancel did not just go to check on his friend’s progress, he also serenaded Chee Kee with his cover of The Beatles’ “Across the Universe” and cracked a joke at the end.
Parokya ni Edgar uploaded the video of Dancel’s song with the caption, “May bumisita kay Gab, medyo masungit. Hehe Labyu Ebe Dancel!”
Gab moves to regular room
Recently, the band shared to the public the good news that Chee Kee, who is battling lymphoma and its complications, has transferred to a regular room because his condition has improved.
The band said Chee Kee was happy that the tubes inserted in his body have been removed.
“Happy siya dahil nakalipat na siya sa regular room! Isa-isa na tinatanggal yung mga tubes na nakakabit sa katawan niya,” it said.
He was so thrilled that he even played the guitar while he was being moved to his room.
“Excited parang bata, nag-gigitara habang papunta sa regular room! Konti nalang at makakalabas na rin siya ng hospital!” it said.
Chee Kee recently had to stay in the Intensive Care Unit because of pneumonia, a complication of his lymphoma. Although he has already recovered from his pneumonia, he still continues the fight against is cancer.

“May cancer pa rin siya, so tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang laban para makasama na namin siya on the stage soon! Laban pa Gab! Kayang-kaya yan!” the band said.
Fundraising
Friends in the industry earlier came together to raise funds to sustain Chee Kee’s medical needs. Performances and gigs have been staged and the proceeds were set aside for his treatment.
The fundraising continues.
Parokya frontman Chito Miranda said on Wednesday tgar the polo that the late rapper Francis Magalona wore in the music video for “Bagsakan,” his rap song with Parokya and Gloc 9, would be auctioned off to help pay for Chee Kee’s bills.
Miranda said he had not expected to find this polo again, but took a chance and messaged Magalona’s daughter Saab that he was looking for it.
Saab was later able to find it and Magalona’s widow Pia agreed to have it auctioned for Chee Kee.
