It is an emotional goodbye for reigning queen Miss Universe Philippines Celeste Cortesi who is a few days away from crowning her successor.
On Instagram, the Filipino-Italian stunner made a heartfelt goodbye to what she sees as an overwhelming year of being a beauty queen.
While most crown watchers are caught up in the glare and prestige that comes with the title, Cortesi said “it was never a walk in the park, as some people would think.”
“It’s not just about the fierce walk, killer poses, and sultry image. Underneath all the things that people see are hours upon hours of hard work,” she said.

Moreover, she said beauty, prestige and glory are not shields from criticism as she herself endured a fair share of struggles. But as a true regal, she won over the hardships that eventually polished her to become the best version of herself.
“The journey was an emotional rollercoaster, where I faced criticism, rejection, and self-doubt. I wouldn’t have it any other way, for it led me to self-discovery, growth, and empowerment. Sure it was difficult, but it helped me overcome my fears, confront my insecurities, and it pushed me to be the best version of myself,” she said.
She also extended gratitude to her supporters, even as she shared the crown to everyone who took part in her journey.
“Thanks to all the people who supported me and believed in me. All this time, I didn’t wear the crown alone, I wore it together with all the people who helped me to get to where I am today,” she said.
“And I couldn’t be more grateful,” she ended.
Cortesi won the Miss Universe Philippines crown in May 2022. She ended the Miss Universe journey early after failing to advance to the Top 16 in the competition held in New Orleans last January. This is the first time that the Philippines failed to enter the semi-finals since 2010.
