FOR THE first time in the Collegiate Press Corps’ (CPC) history, football will be officially recognized, marking another milestone in the awards night’s commitment to inclusivity and sport-wide excellence.
In a showcase of sports excellence and school spirit, the nation’s most outstanding collegiate athletes will be honored as the 2025 CPC stages its Annual Awards Night on June 30 at Discovery Suites in Pasig City.
More than a ceremonial gathering, this event serves as a tribute to the dedication and heart of student-athletes whose performances have not only thrilled supporters but also elevated the level of competition in college sports across the nation.
This year’s inaugural Football Players of the Year from both the UAAP and NCAA will finally take the spotlight, cementing their place in collegiate sports history alongside the stars of basketball and volleyball.
Welcoming Greatness
From the UAAP, FEU’s Mon Diansuy and Carmela Altiche are the first-ever recipients, having led their respective squads to a historic golden double. Their remarkable performances carried the Morayta-based university to an unforgettable football season.
In the NCAA, San Beda University’s Amir Aningalan earns the distinction after playing a pivotal role in the Red Lions’ impressive three-peat, solidifying his status as one of the league’s brightest football prospects.
“We owe it to the student-athletes to continue to glorify their unwavering efforts, with football players in the spotlight this time around,” Collegiate Press Corps (CPC) president John Bryan Ulanday said.
“This is our own little way of immortalizing them for what they have done not just for their respective schools, but also for collegiate sports as a whole,” he added.
Recognizing the Elite
The CPC Awards shines a spotlight on the top achievers from premier collegiate leagues—namely, the UAAP and the NCAA.
Individual and team achievements will be celebrated, recognizing defining plays and season milestones that have left an impact on fans, coaches, and peers alike. These honorees exemplify the passion and excellence that fuel collegiate athletics.
Formed through the unification of separate UAAP and NCAA press groups in 2022, the CPC has steadily broadened its scope, having introduced volleyball honors last year and now extending recognition to football.
Headlining this year’s awards are the Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Basketball Players of the Year, showcasing top talents from UAAP Season 87 and NCAA Season 100 who stood above the rest with remarkable consistency and leadership.
Equally in the spotlight are the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Players of the Year, alongside the naming of Mythical Teams in both divisions—highlighting the sport’s brightest and most consistent performers.
In recognition of strategic brilliance, the CPC will also award Coaches of the Year in basketball and volleyball—those who led championship runs and player development, anchoring their teams’ success stories.
UAAP executive director Atty. Rebo Saguisag, host school UP sports director Bo Perasol and LPU’s management committee board chairman Herc Callanta, from NCAA Season 100 host school, will be featured as guests of honor and keynote speakers for the event.
