People are more than eager to travel this dry season, with the number of air passengers expected to hit two million in April, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said.
In a statement on Tuesday, March 28, CAAP said airports under its supervision welcomed 231,479 passengers in April 2021 and 1,715,720 passengers in April 2022.
“This year, the Authority is expecting the travel surge to reach over two million travelers,” CAAP said.
“CAAP has projected that passenger air traffic recovery in the Philippines in the coming years would increase between 7-10% annually as travel restrictions continue to ease.”
The agency said it has worked with various stakeholders, including the PNP-Aviation Security Unit (AVSEU), Office of Transportation Security (OTS), Department of Tourism (DOT), Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), and airlines, to ensure efficient processing of passengers, especially at the check-in counters.
