CLASSES will remain suspended tomorrow until Friday in all levels, both public and private, in the whole province of Masbate following the strong Magnitude 6 earthquake that hit them Thursday.
In a memorandum, Governor Antonio Kho said disaster officials are still assessing the damage to school buildings.
The Masbate Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council had convened a hybrid emergency meeting today, Thursday.
After receiving reports from municipal disaster officials, it said despite the intensity of the quake, there was no reported injured or death for the entire province.
Minor damage to infrastructures were reported though.
“PDRRMC recommends to Chairperson Gov. Antonio T. Kho to extend the suspension of classes until Friday Feb. 17, 2023 to give way to the infrastructure audit and assessment being conducted by local authorities particularly on the school buildings,” the council said in its Facebook post.
Following the recommendation, Governor Kho issued a memo for the suspension of classes.
Kho’s wife, Masbate Rep. Olga “Ara” Kho, posted the memo in her Facebook page.
Gov. Kho also ordered all local government units to help “speed up” the assessment to the damage to schools.
