One of the three upcoming animated films based on the beloved 2005 series Avatar: The Last Airbender has finally gotten a theatrical release date, one year after the official announcement that the movie was in the works.
The animated film adaptation of the franchise will hit theaters on October 10, 2025, according to an announcement on Avatar’s official Facebook page.
“Since you can’t freeze yourself in a ball of ice, you’ll just have to wait,” it said.
Paramount confirmed the official release date of The Last Airbender, which is the working title of one of the three films, during the CinemaCon 2023 that took place from April 24 to 27, 2023.
Although other details about the film are yet to be revealed, what is known is that The Last Airbender will continue the story of air nomad Avatar Aang and his friends Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko following the defeat of the Fire Nation and Fire Lord Ozai.

The film will also feature the adult version of Team Avatar in their late 20s to early 30s.
The timeline of The Last Airbender is set between the end of the century-long war between the four elemental tribes and before the era of the water Avatar Korra.

The 2D animated film is a joint production between Nickelodeon Animation, Paramount Animation, and Avatar Studios.
Original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will also be producing the said film.

The show is set in a fictional world where certain people, known as benders, have the ability to manipulate one of the four elements: water, earth, fire, or air. The Avatar is the only person who can control all four elements and is responsible for maintaining balance and peace in the world.
The story follows the adventures of Aang, the last surviving Airbender and the current Avatar, as he sets out on a journey to master the other three elements and defeat the Fire Nation, which is threatening to take over the world.
Along the way, he is joined by friends and allies, including Katara and Sokka from the Southern Water Tribe, Toph from an honorable heritage in the Earth Kingdom, and Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation, among others.
