6 places in Metro Manila where you can channel your inner child

by Joanna Deala

Who says you can no longer enjoy things like a kid once you hit your 20s?

Millennials and Gen Zs may now have other responsibilities to focus on, particularly their careers and studies, but this does not mean they’re not allowed to have fun, even if it’s on a playground with children.

For sure, there are a lot of things they weren’t able to do as kids due to limited resources. Worry no more because they can relive their childhood moments with their friends and family in these six locations in Metro Manila.

With the advancement of technology, it’s time to veer away from simple swings, slides, seesaws, and playground climbers in this first-ever digital kid’s play park.

PlayLab offers a variety of interactive and educational activities for kids, and gives a familiar yet modern vibe to kids at heart.

Swings attached to a giant tree and a big slide are among the playground equipment they can find in PlayLab but this time, with a touch of advanced technology.

The Rainbow Tree is among the popular attractions at PlayLab, where guests can either climb the tree or play with swings around it. Another kids’ favorite is the Fantasy Slope, which displays different themes, from under-the-sea to an outer space concept.

They also have the educational Fantasy Water Flow that challenges the children to find a way for the water to reach the plant using a selection of items on screen.

Guests can also channel their artistic skills through Doodle Aquarium, in which they can draw an aquatic creature on paper and have those scanned and displayed on a large digital aquarium screen.

PlayLab at the Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas has a total of 14 digital attractions that guests can enjoy.

The digital play park also has branches in Robinsons Galleria South and Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

If your childhood dream was to become an entrepreneur, then Dream Lab can be the place for you.

With the tagline “Be Your Own Boss,” this indoor interaction aims to teach guests about entrepreneurship in a fun and interactive way.

This 4,000-square meter learning space has two cities, namely Dreamville and Wunderville. Dreamville is the starting point for aspiring entrepreneurs to build their own empires.

The city has its own craft lab, Brgy. Dream Lab, DTI, DOLE, police station, gas station, hospital, pharmacy, market, hotel, hardware, and farm, among others. Dreamville basically has the fundamental agencies and community that entrepreneurs would need to start and sustain their businesses.

Wunderville, meanwhile, is the side of Dream Lab that offers a lot of interactive activities, such as the Wunderville playground, video games, and slime making area.

Dream Lab is located at U/G Ayala Malls Circuit Makati.

Wondering where you can exhaust that high energy in you? Why not try this big trampoline park where you can jump to your heart’s content?

The park has 11 zones that include the free zone, a foam pit, a sticky wall, and trampolines with basketball hoops.

If guests are not satisfied with just hopping, they can also learn how to flip and do some parkour tricks from the park’s professional parkour athletes.

WiiJump Trampoline Park is in Festival Mall, Alabang.

Craft Academy

Our little hands could create so many things using materials we picked up from our surroundings. In case you forgot the feeling of being crafty, perhaps it’s time for you to visit the Craft Academy.

This crafting destination will allow you to feel excited again as you create your own products — may it be perfume, shampoo, lotion, dishwashing liquid, or candles — with their mixing lab.

You don’t have to go far if you want to bake your own cake, cupcakes, and cookies, as Craft Academy has its own baking area.

If you want to squeeze out your creative juices, then go to their Crafeteria where you can create your own keychain and bracelet, and do ceramic painting.

Craft Academy is located at 2nd Floor, Filipino Village, Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque.

Power Up Climbing Gym

Another location where you can channel those superhero stunts is the Power Up Climbing Gym.

This indoor wall-climbing arena has coaches who will be on stand-by as guests climb their way to the top.

Different types of climbing can be done in Power Up, such as lead, top rope, bouldering, and kilter. Proper training is a must for lead climbing.

The indoor arena has full head-to-toe equipment that is thoroughly sanitized to further ensure the safety of climbers, especially kids.

Power Up Climbing Gym has multiple branches, and one can be found in Festival Mall, Alabang.
