VP Sara denies traffic jam in Commonwealth amidst road closure issue

A viral video of a road closure in the Commonwealth last Thursday had sparked controversy against VP Sara Duterte amidst the claim that the road closure is due to the VP passing.

In the video posted by X user, the person taking the video asked the policeman—who was later identified to be Sergeant Verdo Pantollano regarding the reason for the road closure. The person later questioned who was behind this, with the QC police replying with “VP.”

When the person recording the video later asked if it’s “VP Sara,” the police replied with a yes. Upon hearing a confirmation that it is indeed VP Sara, the person recording the video later yelled, telling the other motorist not to get mad because VP Sara is going to cross the Commonwealth road.

Right after the video went viral, netizens were quick to react angrily over the road closure.

The OVP (Office of the Vice President) later released addressing the situation, quoting that “The Vice President did not ask QCPD and will never ask government agencies, including law enforcement bodies, to carry out actions that would inconvenience the public or cause them harm.”

In another statement, the OVP also confirmed that Sara Duterte has been in Mindanao since Wednesday.

The QCPD later released a statement on their Facebook page—apologizing for the inconvenience that caused the traffic flow in Commonwealth westbound.

They later explained the misunderstanding was due to Sgt. Pantollano mistakenly heard the word ‘VP’, deciding to clear the traffic as a sign of courtesy and securtiy.

Sgt. Pantollano also released a statement apologizing for the inconvenience that happened.

VP Sara later asked the QCPD to investigate and discipline the people involved VP Sara in the situation.

In the comment section, netizens called out the uploader of the video for spreading false information on what truly happened.
