by Izel Abanilla

Valentine’s is just days away, and that means many of us are excited for that epic date with our special someone. But before you get preoccupied with flowers and chocolates and dinner reservations, don’t forget to prepare a romantic playlist to boost the love vibes on the 14th.

In case you’re looking for the perfect tunes to put you and your lover in the mood this coming love day, here is a quick refresher of some of the classic songs that will stir up all the feels this Valentine’s.

  1. Valentine – Jim Brickman featuring Martina McBride

“You’re all I need, my love, my Valentine…”

Valentine by Jim Brickman featuring Martina McBride is the ultimate Valentines’ Day song of all. It has been 25 years since the song was first released, but it still rules the day of hearts.

It’s the perfect song to tell the one you love that he/she is your Valentine.

  1. The Gift – Jim Brickman featuring Collin Raye and Susan Ashton

“You saved my heart from being broken apart, you gave your love away, I’m thankful everyday, for the gift…”

An equally heart-tugging Valentine classic is Jim Brickman’s “The Gift” featuring Collin Raye and Susan Ashton. No song can better succeed “Valentine” than this.

This is the perfect melody to play in the background as you gaze at your lover’s face thanking the divine for the perfect Valentine gift.

  1. Simply Jessie – Rex Smith

“And I don’t know how I knew it, but I knew it somehow. You’re the answer to the question no one’s answered ‘till now.”

This 1979 Rex Smith classic is one of the most relaxing songs ever. Once your special someone hears this intro, there will be a twinkle in his or her eyes.

  1. You’re still the one – Shania Twain

“Ain’t nothin’ better, we beat the odds together…”

A song of a triumphant love that conquered the odds. For couples who have weathered storms, this is the perfect Valentine melody to mark your victory.

True love wins.

  1. A Thousand Years – Christina Perri

“Hearts beat fast, colors and promises…”

The perfect wedding song. Even if you’re still just getting to know each other, you will surely both fall in love when this song plays in the background of your date.

  1. It Might Be You – Stephen Bishop

The intro of this song is an all-too familiar melody. Every ‘80s and ‘90s kid knows the exact words to this song.

There is nothing sweeter than relaying your message to your lover using a song that says, “something’s telling me it might be you.”

  1. Thank God I Found You – Mariah Carey, Joe and 98 Degrees

“Thank God I found you, I was lost without you…”

This 1999 love classic will nail that “yes.” Mariah Carey’s powerful vocals and the soothing voices of Joe and members of the 98 Degrees band are all it takes to get your special someone to commit to you.

  1. I Do – 98 Degrees

“If you’re asking do I love you this much, I do.”

One of the biggest hits of 98 Degrees, this song has everything you want to tell him or her. No need for a speech, just hit play and say you will take this to the altar.

  1. My Everything – 98 degrees

“And all the things I couldn’t see are now so clear to me, you are my everything…”

If you want to tell her how much she means to you, “My Everything” by 98 Degrees can do it for you.

  1. Endless Love – Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross

“Oh, yes, You’ll always be, My endless love…”

One of the best collaborations in music history, Mariah Carey and the late Luther Vandross made the most perfect rendition of “Endless Love.” Play it and tell your significant other how your love sees no end.
