UPCAT set for Aug. 10-11, 2024

by Carl Santos

HEADS up, senior high school students!

The University of the Philippines announced on Monday that it will hold its annual UP College Admission Test on August 10–11, 2024.

In an advisory, UP said applicants must fill out their application through the UPCAT portal starting on April 15.

Applicants must then revisit the portal in August to fill out their grades in Form 2B and submit the hard copy of their SF-10 to the UP Office of Admissions, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

Current Grade 11 students, who are expected to be in Grade 12 at the time of the UPCAT, are eligible to apply in April.

Every year, thousands of high school students take the UPCAT in the hopes of getting into the state-run UP, one of the best universities in the country.

The UPCAT is composed of four subtests: language proficiency, science, mathematics, and reading comprehension.

“Standardized scores on these subtests are combined with the weighted average of final grades in the first three years of high school to determine qualification into UP,” the university said.

“Moreover, to implement the policy of democratization and make the UP student body more representative of the nation’s population, socio-economic and geographic considerations are factored in the selection of campus qualifiers.”

Successful applicants will be admitted in the School Year 2025-2026.
