Twitch streamer Kyedae reveals cancer diagnosis

WELL-KNOWN Japanese-Canadian gaming content creator Kyedae Shymco, who is simply known as Kyedae, announced to her fans that she was recently diagnosed with leukemia, eliciting an outpouring of sympathy.  

On Twitter, the 21-year-old Twitch streamer said she has Acute Myeloid Leukemia and would be starting her treatments soon. This could affect her content creation, she said.

“Hi everyone, I’ve recently been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (cancer),” she said. 

“I’ll be starting up treatment very soon. With that being said I’m not too sure how my body will react to the treatment so I do apologize in advance if my stream schedule isn’t consistent! Stay safe <3,” she added. 

Fans and supporters were quick to send her get well soon messages, assuring her that they will be waiting for her until she gets back. 

Get to know Kyedae

Kyedae is a popular live streamer and content creator for 100 Thieves, a premier lifestyle brand and gaming organization. 

To date, she has amassed over six million followers across the video game live streaming platform Twitch, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter. 

For most of her childhood, she grew up in Canada but moved to Japan for a few years. It was during her adolescence that she was introduced to video gaming, although she said she still managed to spend time outdoors, engage in sports, and play the piano. 

It was when she met professional Valorant player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo that she would be further exposed to PC gaming and esports. 

She first started streaming around October 2020, while pursuing her degree in BS Biology at the University of British Columbia. In the beginning, she was only streaming in-between or after classes.

Kyedae and TenZ announced their engagement in August last year. 

Kyedae in Boracay 

Just last year, the famous gamer and content creator visited the island of Boracay in the Philippines. 

Kyedae posted a photo of herself in a bikini on Instagram in July 2022 with the caption, “Boracay, you are beautiful.”
