Netizens react to Chot Reyes’ OOTD in Gilas vs Angola game

by RepublicAsia

Social media users criticized Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes for wearing an expensive OOTD in the FIBA Basketball World Cup game against Angola on Sunday.

During the game, Reyes was seen wearing a four-stripe suit, which, according to netizens, was made by American designer label Thom Browne.

The 4 Bar Engineered Suit Jacket from Thom Browne reportedly costs about P128,730; the 4 Bar Backstrap Wide Leg Trousers costs about P70,300; and the Classic Cotton Button Down With Ribbon Placket costs about P23,890, for a total cost of P222,920.

Netizens said Reyes appeared to have spent more time thinking about what to wear during the match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum than designing game-winning plays for the national team.

Angola prevailed in that game, 80-70, marking Gilas’ second consecutive loss in the global tournament.

On Tuesday, the Philippines failed to progress to the next round of competition after bowing to powerhouse Italy, 90-83, in the last game of the group stage, prompting calls from netizens for Reyes to resign from his post due to alleged poor coaching.
