Timelapse of thesis mates in front of Mt. Mayon goes viral

by Bryan Gadingan

INDEED, pulling an all-nighter for studies can be incredibly difficult both physically and mentally. Especially now that most graduating college students are entering their last terms.

We may be pondering how to make this experience comfortable. What kind of support system can we have? Perhaps a change of environment will help alleviate the tension and tiredness caused by academic duties.

This is what a group of students from Legazpi City encountered after pulling an all-nighter on a rooftop with the perfect cone form of Mt. Mayon as their morning view.

The famous TikTok video included a timelapse of a group of architecture students from Bicol University working ceaselessly on their thesis papers.

After the night, the stunning splendor of Mt. Mayon welcomed them in the morning. It is an uncommon way to spend an all-nighter with a group of friends.

In an interview with GMA’s State of the Nation segment, architecture student Franklin Tardecilla, who posted the video, said that he is in his fifth year of college.

They are also on their way to complete their individual theses, which is why they went above and beyond by pulling an all-nighter.

“In a way, parang nagtutulungan kami para mas ma-motivate, para mas matapos namin on time ‘yung mga respective thesis namin,” she said.

Despite the tiredness from an all-nighter writing their thesis and the heaviness in their eyelids from excessive screen time on their devices, the Mt. Mayon morning vista brightens everything.

“Nakakapagod ‘yung masyadong matagal na screen time sa harap ng laptops. Kaya pag pasulyap-sulyap kami sa view ng Mayon, parang nakapagpahinga na kami,” he explained.

Having the opportunity to enjoy this vista every morning is something to be grateful for. This is living proof that nature is always a reliable source of comfort when things get tough.
