Teen steals P2M from lola to buy merch; K-Pop fans triggered

by RepublicAsia

FILIPINO K-Pop fans are triggered in so many different ways by the feature of the GMA show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, about a senior high school student who bought P2.7 million worth of merchandise.

Many posted to Facebook and Twitter their reaction to the confession of fellow K-Pop stan “Bea” who stole money from her grandmother’s store earnings in order for her to buy K-Pop merch.

‘Bea’ the ultimate K-Pop stan

Bea has an impressive K-Pop merch collection but hid them in a dresser to keep from the prying eyes of her relatives.

Later, when her aunt discovered her merch, they were stunned to find her collection. These include 3,000 photo cards of K-Pop idols, photo books, and 50 albums including those by Blankpink, BTS, and NCT.

The three limited-edition NCT photo cards worth 50,000 are the most expensive in Bea’s merch collection.

Her ultimate stan is Enhypen, who recently had a 3-day concert here in the Philippines, wherein she bought a VIP seated ticket worth P13,250.

Bea’s grandmother was so distraught and shocked that the amount of money taken from her over the past five years had already reached P2 million.

Netizen’s reaction

Some teenagers wished their parents missed the KMJS episode Sunday night.

Mark Oneil Alburo Lero said the show could expose K-Pop stans who lie to their parents about the value of the merch they buy.

Lee Aeri admitted that she lied and that the NCT card she bought was only P5, but it was P5,000 each.

Others can’t help but send reminders to be responsible with their finances, especially when they feel like buying and collecting K-Pop merch.

Kay Marfil quoted Suga of BTS: “YOU DON’T NEED EXPENSIVE THINGS LIKE MERCH OR ARMYBOMB TO BE TRUE ARMY. JUST LOVE AND SUPPORT US IS THE PROVE THAT YOU’RE A REAL ARMY.” Same thing sa lahat ng fandom. 🙂

‘Impulse Control Disorder’

KMJS staff brought K-Pop stan “Bea” to a psychologist.

During a session, psychologist Dr. Camille Garcia diagnosed Bea with impulse control disorder.

Impulse control disorder is when a person has trouble controlling emotions or behaviors.

“Malaki ang tsansa nya na maging maayos sya,” Garcia said.

Bea sincerely apologized to her grandma; she is willing to do her best to change and will work to build their trust again.

Hindi naman masamang mag-collect, pero i-limit po ‘yung sarili sa kung ano lang ‘yung tama”
