by Joanna Deala

GET yourselves ready, Filipino anime fans, as the Forger family graces the Philippine theaters soon!

On Facebook, Encore Films Philippines dropped a promotional poster of “Spy x Family Code: White,” which is set to premiere in local cinemas on March 13, 2024.

“The Forger Family is coming for vacation in [the] Philippines soon!” it said.

A 2-minute trailer of the new movie begins with the Forger family–composed of Loid, Yor and Anya–going on a winter getaway when villains arrive to rain on their parade. A scene from the clip showed Anya being kidnapped and her adoptive parents Loid and Yor, who are secretly a skilled spy and an assassin, respectively, come to her rescue.

“Spy x Family Code: White” is directed by Takashi Katagiri, with the original story by manga author Tatsuya Endo and screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi.

The film premiered in Japan on December 22 and will also be released in North America, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, and Europe, according to reports.

On January 15, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of “Spy x Family” announced that the animated film had accumulated a revenue of ¥4.85 billion and admissions of over 3.61 million individuals in 24 days since it was released.

Further details about the movie’s Philippine premiere, such as the list of participating cinemas, have yet to be revealed.

Series

Before the movie, the manga was made as an anime series that premiered in 2022. It has two seasons, which are available on streaming service Netflix.

The first season opened with Loid, whose spy name is Twilight, as he builds a fake family as part of his secret mission called “Operation Strix.” He adopts Anya, who has telepathic abilities, from an orphanage and enters a fake marriage with Yor, whose assassin name is “Thorn Princess.”

It is only Anya who knows about the secret identities of each member of the Forger family. They later adopt a large white-fur dog named Bond, who has precognition abilities that allow him to have visions of the future.

The first season of the series has 25 episodes while the second one has 12.
