‘I made it!’ Does anyone care?

FLEXING achievements, promotions, and even small wins are just some typical posts you will see online aside from entertaining memes and news.

But, not everyone is happy about it; some believe personal milestones should not be posted online since not everyone cares about you and your life.

“Who cares if you were promoted as a manager?” “Who cares if you won an award?” “Who cares if your articles have been published in a newspaper?” These are some questions that people ask whenever they see posts about achievements.

Should I share my accomplishments?

Marketing specialist Victoria Harding said in a LinkedIn report that sharing your professional milestones and achievements online inspires others to do the same.

“I always feel more confident posting about a job update or award if I see someone else doing it. Embracing your achievements and openly celebrating them can give others the confidence to do the same,” she said.

Harding said sharing your wins, whether small or big, fosters a space where people may get to know each other better and support one another.

Take the time to interact with and leave comments on other people’s posts about their careers and accomplishments, a simple “congrats” can mean a lot, Harding said.

‘Bitter’ people

‘Bitter’ people — or those who are angry and unhappy — have natural tendency to despise flexing of small and big victories.

Actress Maricar Reyes-Poon cited this as one of symptoms of a person who is bitter: “Buwisit ako pag may nangyayaring positive sa buhay nya,”

In her Tiktok post, the actress shared that there was a time when she had a nemesis and saw in one of the Facebook posts that he has been given an award in his company.

“Wala akong sinasabi sa labas, pero sa loob, iniisip ko, ‘Hmmph, award-award ka dyan. Di naman nila alam kung gaano ka kasama sa personal mong buhay,'” Reyes-Poon recalled.

‘The right people will support you’

If some people are unhappy with your wins, they don’t deserve to be part of your circle.

The right people will never drag you down at your highest; instead, they will celebrate with you even if they are at their lowest.

Find your people. No one has the right to make you feel less over your hard-earned wins. Keep sharing them and make other people inspired and eager to succeed, too.
