Sparkle, Star Magic warn vs fake auditions

by Joanna Deala

FILIPINOS who dream of pursuing a career in the Philippine entertainment industry now have the chance to do so as Sparkle GMA Artist Center and Star Magic announced auditions for aspiring celebrities.

However, the talent agencies recently warned the public against fake auditions.

On social media, Sparkle released a statement to address “unauthorized recruitment activities” on different messaging applications.

“It has come to our attention that there are certain individuals posing as Sparkle executives and are conducting unauthorized recruitment activities on Viber, Telegram, and WhatsApp,” it said.

GMA Network’s talent agency emphasized that no employees of GMA and Sparkle would require auditionees to remove their clothing, whether in person or online, during casting auditions.

“Nor will you ever be asked to send sexy photos or images where you’re unclothed. Kindly refrain from interacting with them and report them to the official social media accounts of Sparkle,” it said.

The agency advised auditionees to rely only on the announcements made on their official Facebook and Instagram accounts about auditions and recruitments.

Last week, Sparkle opened auditions for singing competitions “The Clash,” “Tanghalan ng Kampeon,” and “The Voice Kids.” The agency was looking for male and female solo singers aged seven and above.

Established in 1995, Sparkle has been handling up-and-coming and well-known artists in the local show business scene, including Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, Bianca Umali, Buboy Villar, Cassy Legaspi, David Licauco, Euwenn Mikaell, Gabbi Garcia, Jak Roberto, Michelle Dee, Miguel Tanfelix, Ruru Madrid, and Sanya Lopez. Sparkle recently welcomed Chanty of K-pop girl group Lapillus to its family.

Beware of ‘PBB’ scammers

Star Magic, the talent agency of ABS-CBN, also advised the public to be wary of scammers who introduced themselves as part of the hit reality television show “Pinoy Big Brother.”

“We ask the public to be vigilant against scammers claiming to be part of ‘PBB’ and asking aspiring housemates to audition. The unauthorized use of the ‘PBB’ brand or any false representation as an employee of the show is punishable by law,” the agency’s statement read.

It also reminded the public that audition announcements for the show are posted only on its official social media accounts.

The famous yellow house in the country will open its doors to welcome a new set of housemates for its new season called “Pinoy Big Brother Gen11.”

In the reality show, individuals from different places will come together to live under one roof managed by “Kuya,” for a certain number of days. They will be asked to complete a wide range of tasks.

Former “PBB” winner Melai Cantiveros also warned the public against fake auditions for the reality show. As to the question on what to look forward to from “Pinoy Big Brother Gen11,” she hinted that the upcoming season will have the “best surprises” for the audience.

The show will hold auditions in Robinsons Novaliches and Robinsons Las Piñas on April 27 and 28, respectively. Aspiring housemates from General Santos City in South Cotabato can also audition at KCC Mall of Gensan.

“PBB” also encouragedbaspiring celebrities aged 13 to 15 to audition for Star Magic.
