Choco Mucho secures first victory over Creamline

by Bryan Gadingan

IN A THRILLING turn of events, the Choco Mucho Flying Titans secured their long-awaited victory against the formidable Creamline Cool Smashers. This thrilling comeback couldn’t have come at a better moment for the team.

At the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, the Flying Titans managed to secure a hard-fought victory against their sister team. Despite being two sets down, they showed incredible resilience and determination to turn the tide in their favor.

the final score of 13-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 18-16 reflects the intense back-and-forth battle that took place on the court. In a stunning upset, the Cool Smashers’ 12-game winning streak was finally put to an end by the Flying Titans.

This victory not only gave the Titans a much-needed boost but also positioned them favorably for the highly-anticipated semifinals of the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

In the absence of Tots Carlos, who is currently in South Korea for a draft tryout, Jema Galanza, Alyssa Valdez, and Jeanette Panaga have taken on the responsibility of leading the Cool Smashers.

Surprisingly, Creamline appeared to have the match under control with a 2-0 set lead. However, the Flying Titans made a remarkable comeback and leveled the highly-anticipated match in Set 4.

During the final set, Valdez stepped up for the Cool Smashers, reminding everyone of her incredible skills from the past. She faced off against Sisi Rondina and Royse Tubino, but the Flying Titans proved to be more determined.

In an impressive display of skill and versatility, Rondina, the reigning All-Filipino MVP, dominated the game with 23 points on 21 attacks, one block, and an ace. Tubino also made a significant contribution to Choco Mucho’s offense, adding 20 points while playing multiple positions.

“Kine-credit ko ‘yung win namin kay coach Dante [Alinsunurin] sa pag-adjust niya kasi pagka-third set ginawa akong open, sa mga teammates ko na walang sawang pag-intindi and mahabang pasensya talaga kaya nakuha namin itong panalo sa Creamline,” said Tubino.

“Although pangit ‘yung first two sets namin, at least nakabawi kami and ‘yun nga sabi ni coach Dante [Alinsunurin), teamwork lang talaga and very grateful lang kami kay Lord,” she expressed in an interview with the press.

Choco Mucho, who secured the second spot in the prelims, is now on the verge of making it to the finals. This presents a chance for the Flying Titans to redeem themselves after their defeat in the previous AFC championship against the Cool Smashers in December.

“All credits talaga sa teammates ko na pinagtrabahuhan talaga namin na maipanalo ‘yung game na ‘yun. Sabi nga ni Maddie, finally, naka-isa rin sa Creamline,” Rondina said.

Thursday, May 2 will see an exciting lineup of volleyball matches at PhilSports Arena.

The Petro Gazz Angels, coming off a recent victory, will go head-to-head with Creamline at 4:00PM. Following that, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers will take on Choco Mucho in a highly anticipated match at 6:00PM.
