South Korean TikToker faces sexual assault charges

by Deanna Macaranas

SOUTH Korean TikToker Seo Won-Jeong, popularly known as “Won Jeong-Man,” is reportedly facing sexual assault charges.

The creator is known for viral videos where he would yell “Mama!” after recreating other content creators’ videos. His fame later translated to 55.6 million followers on the platform.

The creator had also earned a spot on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list this year.

But he suddenly went silent on his social media, causing fans to question why he suddenly disappeared until South Korean media reported that “Influencer A” is under investigation for sexual assault charges.

According to an SBS report, a man and Influencer A were arrested for sexually assaulting Woman B. It was reported that both men had taken Woman B to the other man’s house and assaulted her there.

Woman B was later awakened by the recorded noise, and she realized that she’d been assaulted by both men. She later called the police and reported the incident.

While the news report blurted out the identity of Seo Won-Jeong, netizens were quick to distinguish who “Influencer A” is.

On December 15, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station forwarded the matter to the prosecution.

Meanwhile, the first court hearing is set to take place on January 17, 2024.

If Seo is found guilty of the sexual assault of an unconscious victim, he might spend up to seven years in prison.

Seo’s agency SOONENT has yet to respond to the matter.
