by Izel Abanilla

Sana all!

Local government employees in General Luna, Quezon who are single won’t have to despair this Valentine’s Day as their status will be compensated by “triple pay” care of the town mayor.

General Luna Mayor Matt Florido announced that town employees who have been single since birth or have been unattached for five years will get triple pay if they work on February 14.

Meanwhile, other kinds of single employees could choose if the want to receive double pay on February 14 or enjoy leave with pay on February 13 so that they could enjoy a long weekend.

Those who will qualify will have to submit their application to the Mayor’s Office where a special committee will validate the authenticity of their relationship status.

The mayor said he will use his personal funds to shoulder these benefits for the single employees.

The mayor also posted his announcement on Facebook.

“Triple pay sa Valentine’s Day ang lahat ng LGU employees na single since birth at sa mga walang jowa for five years,” Florido said.

Last year, Florido also offered a similar deal to single employees on Valentine’s Day. Those who went to work received double pay while those who chose to spend the day out still merited paid leaves.

The post was then peppered with “sana all” comments from netizens who also wished their localities will give the same benefits.

“Sana all” is a popular Filipino street slang which means wishing for the same thing for all.
