Pinoy hits that K-pop boy group ENHYPEN performed at ‘Fate’ concert in PH

by Joanna Deala

THOUSANDS of Filipino ENGENEs showed love to K-pop boy group ENHYPEN as it capped off its “Fate” world tour at the New Clark City Stadium over the weekend. In return, the septet made sure to give a night to remember to their fans with their jampacked quality performances.

This was the second time that the fourth generation boy group closed a concert tour in the country, following “MANIFESTO” in February 2023.

There were surely a lot of unforgettable moments that fans would cherish during the Philippine leg of ENHYPEN’s second world tour. There’s the members performing their hit songs like “Drunk-Dazed” and “FEVER,” riding carts around the stadium to greet their fans closer, bringing out Pikachu mascots, and ENGENEs preparing an orange flower fan project, among others.

But perhaps, one of the memorable segments of the show was when several members of the group–composed of Sunoo, Jay, Heeseung, Jungwon, Sunghoon, Jake, and Ni-ki–made renditions of Filipino hit songs popularized by P-pop kings SB19, singer-songwriter Zack Tabudlo, and OPM band Never the Strangers.

‘GENTO’

Filipino K-pop fans have seen a lot of idols jumping on the “GENTO” dance challenge on social media platform TikTok, but Sunghoon hopped on the trend enthusiastically in front of a big crowd on Saturday, February 3.

In his fancams uploaded by netizens on X (formerly Twitter), his co-members and fans could be seen and heard cheering for Sunghoon as he flaunted his smooth dance moves.

But just when they thought it was over, Sunghoon uploaded another “GENTO” dance cover on ENHYPEN’s official TikTok account.

The dance video has now garnered over 7.3 million views, as of writing.

Sunghoon was not the first member who danced to SB19’s hit song. It can be recalled that Jungwon joined the dance craze in August 2023.

“GENTO” was first released as a single in May 2023 before it was included in SB19’s latest album “PAGTATAG!”

‘Give Me Your Forever’

Loud screams were heard at the concert venue when Heeseung serenaded the audience with his live rendition of Tabudlo’s hit song “Give Me Your Forever.”

He sang the chorus part that goes, “I want you to know, I love you the most; I’ll always be there right by your side; ‘Cause baby you’re always in my mind; Just give me your forever.”

Several fans were also heard singing along with the K-pop idol.

This was not the first time that Heeseung sang to the Filipino singer-songwriter’s hit song. In July 2023, he surprised Filipino ENGENEs with his version of “Give Me Your Forever” on TikTok.

Tabudlo was over the moon when he saw the clip and said that it was an “honor” for him to have his song performed by the international artist.

“Give Me Your Forever” is part of Tabudlo’s 14-track debut album titled “Episode.”

‘Moving Closer’

Sunoo also made the hearts of Pinoy ENGENEs flutter when he added a new flavor to the song “Moving Closer” by Never the Strangers.

He sang from the first verse until the chorus part of the song. Jake, Sunghoon, and Jake were seated in front of the stage, waving their hands in tune to “Moving Closer,” as seen in videos shared by the fans.

Meanwhile, the Pinoy band said it was surprised by Sunoo’s performance when it shared a clip of it via Instagram story.

It also praised the Korean singer on X, saying that the latter “beautifully s[a]ng” its hit song.

OPM icon Rico Blanco also reacted to Sunoo’s “Moving Closer” stage.

Sunoo did not leave behind other ENGENEs who weren’t able to attend the concert and sang the Filipino hit song once more on Weverse.

“Moving Closer” was part of Never the Strangers’ self-titled album in 2012.
