‘CAUSE when a heart breaks no it don’t break even…

The death of co-founder and guitarist Mark Sheehan of The Script has left the Irish rock band’s supporters from all over the world, including those in the Philippines, in grief.

The band confirmed in social media posts that the 46-year-old Sheehan died in a hospital after an undisclosed brief illness.

“Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness.  The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time,” it said.

Meanwhile, the Breakeven hitmaker’s Filipino supporters mourned the death of the guitarist.

The Script Philippines, a fan page which is also officially recognized by the local counterpart of the group’s label Sony Music, posted its message of condolences on Facebook.

It also paid tribute to Sheehan’s contribution to the band.

“Today is a sad day for us The Script Family. Let us offer a prayer for the eternal repose of his soul and send his family especially Danny and Glen our condolences. Mark was such a gent and truly a legend in making The Script the band that they are now. The band that we all love. We will miss him terribly for sure,” The Script Philippines said.

On Twitter, Pinoy fans expressed their sadness over the news and said Sheehan will surely be missed.

A Twitter user took Sheehan’s death hard and said it really hurt to hear the news.

Putting the The Script together

Sheehan, together with friends vocalist Danny O’Donoghue and drummer Glen Power, formed the popular Irish rock group in 2001.

Before the birth of The Script, bestfriends Sheehan and Donoghue were in a band called Mytown from 1996 to 2001.

Through the years, The Script has produced six albums that released chart-topping hits like “Hall of Fame,” “Breakeven,” “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” “If You Could See Me Now” and many others.

The band last performed in Manila in September 2022 for its Greatest Hits Tour. It visited the Philippines for the first time in 2011 and also returned to perform in the country in 2013, 2015, and 2018.
