SEVERAL winners in the mayoral race have been proclaimed a day after the #BotoNgKabataan2025 midterm elections, with some reelected for another term.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the partial, unofficial results, with the total election returns reaching 97.29% as of 5:00 p.m. on May 13.
In Pasig City, Mayor Vico Sotto won his bid for a third and final term, receiving 351,392 votes and besting his rival in the May 12 election, businesswoman Sarah Discaya.
Sotto’s Giting ng Pasig slate won a straight victory, including Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, who had 290,237 votes.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also secured her third and final term, winning 1,030,730 votes. Reelectionist Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, Belmonte’s long-time running mate, won the vice mayoral race.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan clinched a second term, defeating former senator Antonio Trillanes IV with 348,592 votes. His running mate, Vice Mayor Karina Teh, is set to serve her second term.
Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, the city’s first female mayor, has also secured her second term, garnering 120,757 votes. Her running mate, Edward Nolasco, was proclaimed winner in the vice mayoral race in the city, garnering 73,302 votes.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco will continue to lead Navotas City after running unchallenged in the May 12 elections, obtaining 120,283 votes. His running mate, Tito Sanchez, also ran unopposed.
Like Tiangco, Valenzuela Mayor Weslie Gatchalian and Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon breezed through their reelection bid after they ran unopposed in the 2025 polls.
Pasay City Mayor Imelda “Emi” Calixto-Rubiano retained her post, securing her third and final term. She won with 132,928 votes, defeating Pasay City Councilor Editha “Wowee” Manguerra, who had 88,110 votes. Calixto-Rubiano’s nephew, Mark Calixto, was elected Pasay’s vice mayor.
Incumbent Vice Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos, the wife of former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, will return as mayor of Mandaluyong City. Her running mate, Mandaluyong City Councilor Anthony Suva, was also proclaimed vice mayor.
Las Piñas City will be led by a new Aguilar. Vice Mayor April Aguilar was proclaimed winner of the mayoral race, switching posts with her mother, Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar, who will serve as vice mayor.
San Juan City residents reelected Mayor Francis Zamora for a third and final term. Incumbent Vice Mayor AAA Agcaoili was also reelected.
Former Vice Mayor Gerald German is proclaimed the new mayor of Pateros, succeeding Miguel “Ike” Fernando Ponce III. Incumbent Carlo Santos was reelected Pateros’ vice mayor.
In Marikina, Congresswoman Maan Teodoro won as the next mayor, defeating fellow lawmaker Stella Quimbo.
Congressman Edwin Olivarez won the mayoral race in Parañaque City, switching places with his brother, Mayor Eric Olivarez, who won the Parañaque 1st District congressional race unchallenged.
Senator Nancy Binay emerged victorious in the mayoral race in Makati City with 114,898 votes, becoming the fifth member of the Binay family to lead the country’s premier financial hub.
Lani Cayetano will continue serving as Taguig City’s chief executive, winning 410,706 votes. Her running mate, Arvin Ian Alit, was also proclaimed vice mayor.
Isko reclaims Manila’s top post
While there is no proclamation yet, Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is set to return as the chief executive of the nation’s capital, defeating former ally Mayor Honey Lacuna.
Based on the partial and unofficial results on Tuesday afternoon, the former Manila Mayor has garnered over 527,000 votes.
Lacuna already conceded defeat in a video, saying that she humbly accepts the majority’s decision. She thanked Manileños for giving her the opportunity to be their first female mayor.
A former vice mayor, Domagoso was elected Manila mayor in 2019, defeating Joseph “Erap” Estrada. He held the top post until 2022, when he joined the presidential elections and lost.
