ANOTHER day, another slay for the gays!
After strutting their stuff on local gigs and television shows, our favorite Filipino drag queens from Drag Race Philippines are now making their names known internationally.
World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, announced on Thursday the nominees for the annual WOWIE Awards and also named its Breakout Star Award winners.
The WOWIE Awards aim to recognize iconic individuals’ talents and skills in artistry, activism, entertainment, and more in the LGBTQ+ community.

Drag Race Philippines inaugural season winner Precious Paula Nicole will be bringing home home one of the Breakout Star Award trophies. She was given the recognition alongside other winners Stephanie Hsu, Admira Thunderpussy, Danny Beard, Giselle Lullaby, La Diamond, Drag Couenne, Matt Rogers, Paloma, and Spankie Jackzon.

Meanwhile, four other Filipino drag queens received nominations from the award-giving body.
TV host Paolo Ballesteros, also known as Mama Pao, was nominated in the Best Viral Moment (The Internet Icon Award) category alongside Prince for their “The shoes!!” moment on Drag Race Philippines’ first episode.
The duo will be competing against American rapper Nicki Minaj and other nominees.

Meanwhile, Drag Race Philippines runner-up Marina Summers was nominated in the WOWlebrity on the Rise (The Can’t Get You Out of My Head Award) category.
She shared the good news on her Instagram account.
“Pilipinas, World, let’s make this happen! Make your Filipina Winnah claim her rightful #WOWIES Award!” she wrote in the caption.

Fan-favorite Eva Le Queen also secured a nomination in the Best Beauty Guru (The Painted Award) category.
Le Queen will be up against other drag queens, makeup enthusiasts, and beauty content creators in this category. The other nominees are Abby Roberts, Bosco, Emira D’Spain, Gigi Gorgeous, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, Sminty Drop, and Julie Wu.
“IBA TALAGA ANG GANDANG FILIPINA!!! Such a huuge honor to have been nominated for a WOWIE!” Le Queen wrote in an Instagram post.
“Let’s show the World that Filipino Queens are truly WORLD CLASS!” she added.

Other Filipino-American queens were also included in the list of nominees, including Rock M. Sakura and Anetra.
The winners of the 2023 WOWIE Awards will be announced on May 13. To vote for the Filipino drag queens, visit the World of Wonders website.
