FILIPINO drag queens made sure they wouldn’t go home empty handed from the recently held WOWIE Awards, as Drag Race Philippines Season 1 finalists Marina Summers and Eva Le Queen secured wins in two different categories.
Summers, the first season’s runner up, received the Wowlebrity On The Rise Award, also known as the Can’t Get You Out of My Head Award.
The award celebrates emerging drag queens for their memorable and iconic performances and entertainment value.
Summers said on Twitter that she was given the recognition right after performing Beyonce’s Love on Top at the awarding ceremony.

Meanwhile, season 1 finalist Le Queen took home the Best Beauty Guru Award.
Also called the The Painted Award, it recognizes the outstanding and unparalleled makeup skills of various queens, makeup enthusiasts, and beauty content creators.

The drag queen also said in another post that she was amazed to know that Filipino drag is being appreciated even in the international scene.
“It just blows my mind to think that this was beyond our wildest dreams a few years back. And to know that Filipino drag is LOVED AND RAVED all the way here. Thank you everyone!” she said.
“I would think we have made a mark in the PH mainstream but guuurl — we made a mark in the WORLD,” she added.

Drag Race Philippines Season 1 winner Precious Paula Nicole was previously hailed as one of the Breakout Star Award awardees, along with other queens and drag enthusiasts Stephanie Hsu, Admira Thunderpussy, Danny Beard, Giselle Lullaby, La Diamond, Drag Couenne, Matt Rogers, Paloma, and Spankie Jackzon.

The local drag race franchise host and television personality Paolo Ballesteros and season 1 contestant Prince also received a nod from the award giving body under the category Best Viral Moment.
The WOWIE Awards is an annual celebration that concludes RuPaul’s DragCon, a drag convention that started in 2015 for the supporters and enthusiasts of the iconic American reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race.
It is organized by World of Wonder (WOW), which is also the production company behind the successful drag race franchise.
