Every generation has its own list of child stars who eventually make it big in Tinseltown. There’s Nino Muhlach in the ‘70s, Ice Segurra in the ‘80s, and Serena Dalrymple during the ‘90s.
They hogged the limelight in their heydays and carved their paths as award-winning screen legends. But no matter how many plaques and trophies are on display in their homes, fans always remember them for their pinchy cheeks.

- Kyline Alcantara
Like most kids in showbiz, Kyline Alcantara was a dreamer. At eight years old, she joined the now-defunct reality show Star Circle Quest for the Next Kiddie Superstar which hailed Nash Aguas and Bugoy Cariño in 2004 and 2009 as winners.
Although she made it to the Top 10, Alcantara was eventually eliminated. Despite this, she landed roles on television and became part of ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, Star Magic.
Fast forward to today, she is now one of the most sought-after teen queens of GMA, and is the partner of Mavy Legaspi in the MavLine love team.
- Kathryn Bernardo
Arguably, Kathryn Bernardo is the most sought-after celebrity of her generation. But before she became the big actress that she is, Bernardo played the role of Mara in the remake of the iconic ‘90s drama series Mara Clara.
As she entered her teens, she was paired with her real-life boyfriend Daniel Padilla, and their love team collectively known as KathNiel became a big hit. The two eventually hit off as a real couple and starred in some of the most ambitious projects of the Kapamilya network.
- Xyriel Manabat
Xyriel Manabat had an incredible journey from being a child star to a teen actress. Starting her career at age five, Manabat starred in notable roles which earned her various recognitions.
Now 19, Manabat is one of the most talked about young actresses, especially for her role in Dirty Linen. She has also been actively campaigning for body positivity and self-love.
- Mika dela Cruz
Mika dela Cruz possesses one of the most beautiful faces among today’s young stars. The younger sister of ‘90s teen queen Angelica dela Cruz started her career as a cast member of Goin Bulilit.
Among the many projects she did, Dela Cruz is best remembered for her stellar performance as Angeli in the horror film T2.
- Ryzza Mae Dizon
No one would forget that cute, bouncy little girl who captured the hearts of many when she rode along the comic skits of Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon in the iconic segment Little Miss Philippines in the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga.
Known as Aling Maliit when she was still a child star, Dizon, 17, made millions laugh with her roles on television and in movies.
