Guided by a vision, living with a purpose: Henrick Chiu takes the reigns as RepublicAsia’s Chief Future Officer

As Republicasia thrives to further widen and solidify its influence to the new generation despite its relatively young age, adding Henrick Chiu to the company’s roster of exceptional members seems to be a perfect move. 

Taking the role of Chief Future Officer of Republicasia, Chiu, a seasoned TV producer with 15 years of experience in the industry, embodies a person that never stops looking for a meaningful purpose. For him, it is what drives people to achieve greater things that give strong impact to society. 

This makes him a vital asset to the company. With his solid background on TV and Digital Media, Republicasia wholeheartedly believes in his capacity to strengthen the company by ensuring and facilitating that all contents and strategies are anchored on the company’s mission and vision. 

Meet Hence

Graduated as a Magna cum Laude with a degree in Mass Communication at Far Eastern University, Henrick Chiu, or Hence for people who know him, immediately pursued the path of media and TV production. 

Right after graduation, he worked as a production assistant in Philippine’s largest media conglomerate, ABS-CBN Corporation and first took part in one of the biggest TV series in the country, Only You, starring Angel Locsin, Diether Ocampo and Sam Milby. 

Imprinting in his mind that failures and hardships are part of a journey to success, Hence pushed himself to the limit, furthering his skills by partaking in various notable projects such as The Buzz, ASAP, Umagang Kay Ganda, Rated Korina, and Sing Galing among others, taking different roles like researcher, segment producer, story editor and executive producer.

He also embarked on the world of content creation for branded products such as Safeguard, Joy, Globe, Alaska, McDonalds and Air Asia to name a few.

Working with the icons   

Entering the world of entertainment and media industry means running into some of the brightest stars in the country—this was a common scenario for Hence.

When he became a researcher and segment producer in Showbiz News Ngayon and The Buzz, he experienced working with the King of Talk, Boy Abunda, that paved the way for his immersive exposure in the world of entertainment.

But what really made him love his work more was when he became part of the morning show Umagang Kay Ganda, working hand-in-hand with known news anchors like Anthony Taberna, Amy Perez, Jorge Carino, Jeff Canoy, Winnie Cordero, Ariel Ureta and Gretchen Ho.

When he was tasked to be the head writer of the show, the challenge for him was to create contents that are close to the hearts of Filipino families. Lucky enough since he has been family-oriented throughout his life, his personal experiences helped him to produce contents that perfectly encapsulate the essence of a Filipino family.

Through his seasoned expertise in content creation and content development, Hence and his exceptional team were able to achieve a 400% increase of viewership over a 5-years period that hailed UKG as the top-rated morning show in the country. “I’m just one of the team members, and that success is the result of our collective hardwork,” he shared.

His intricate yet exciting experiences with these industry icons inspired him more to further his competence in content creation. And the universe seemed to be in his favor as he got the chance to work with the veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. 

As an executive producer of Rated Korina and head writer of Raise Your Flag series, he personally saw how hands on and dedicated Korina and Catriona are when it comes to their own profession. 

While working with these known people taught him many things, for Hence, there is nothing more rewarding and fulfilling than to give inspiration to many people through his contents. 

“Everytime that my contents are able to ignite personal growth, deliver introspection and motivate individuals to make positive changes in their lives, I feel that I serve my purpose,” he said. 

Hence spearheaded creative techniques in story development, case study research, and story angle structure that helped Rated Korina gain more than 15 million combined views in social media, and made Raise Your Flag series reach millions of users on YouTube, in one year.

Why RepublicAsia?

With the ongoing digital shift of many industries caused by the pandemic, consuming information has now been plagued with misinformation and disinformation. 

For Hence, being part of Republicasia gives him the opportunity to produce contents that are accurate and transformational. Hence as Chief Future Officer

“Our contents have a remarkable ability to change lives, challenge norms, inspire action and promote critical thinking, by utilizing the power of digital media that encourages users to engage, share and reflect on relevant issues, fostering a sense of connection and collective purpose,” he said.

He highlights the significant role of digital journalism—which Republicasia is in the forefront of—in amplifying the voice of the new generation as they are the future of the country. 

Hence believes that the new generation play a crucial role in the future of journalism.

“Their ability to quickly grasp emerging technologies helps drive innovation, amplify voices, challenge one-sided narratives and encourage engagement in the field,” Hence reiterated.

For him, Republicasia possesses a massive potential of becoming a top player in the field of digital media with its unique way of delivering stories. 

“I think what makes us stand out among others is that our contents are data-driven. All information and narratives are based on empirical data, statistics and evidence, through optimization of SEO and social media metrics. Case studies or examples are backed by relevant data points,” he explained. 

With digitization being the trend nowadays, he envisions the company to be a strong force in creating a positive impact on society. “I want RepublicAsia to be the go-to source of information and inspiration for the new generation that brings about significant change, inspires growth and promotes empathy, understanding and social transformation,” he added.
