BLACKPINK girl Jennie Kim was one of the most anticipated attendees of this year’s MET Gala.

Aside from being one of the biggest KPop stars, Jennie is also known for being a bona fide fashionista in her own right — transforming classic, timeless pieces for a modern-day glam look.

Jennie shared her feelings about attending the high fashion event in New York City in an interview with American internet personality Emma Chamberlain for a fashion magazine. 

“I was really excited until I got off my car, like two minutes ago,” the musician said.

She said she was not sure what to expect from the gala as this was her first time attending it. But she was most curious about how her fellow attendees would manage their fancy outfits when they needed to take a seat, she said. 

“I see people wearing these crazy dresses,” said Jennie. “I’m so curious to see how they sit down.”

She also said she would focus on having fun at the event, based on the advice from fellow BLACKPINK member Rosé, who attended the 2021 MET gala.

“Rosé, she was here last year and she told me [to] just have fun. So that’s the plan for today. I’m gonna go have fun,” she said.

Jennie in classic Chanel

The South Korean singer-rapper graced the MET Gala carpet in a vintage black and white Chanel mini dress from the late Karl Lagerfeld, who was feted in this year’s event. 

“I’m wearing Chanel from the 90s runway. I’m so lucky to have the Chanel team [recreate] this look from the 90s, the one that Karl did. So, I’m just, like, so happy,” said Jennie.

The 27-year-old KPop idol also shared in a separate interview that she wanted to pay a subtle tribute to her roots by incorporating a traditional Korean-style braid adorned with a Camelia hair accessory for the “Karl and the classic Chanel” look.

“And the inspiration for my hair was, we wanted to bring a little bit of our Korean culture, and this braided hair reminded us of a Korean… look,” Jennie said in a Vogue interview.
