On Music Festival: What we know so far

by Joanna Deala

Fans are expected to gather this November for a highly anticipated music festival that will showcase both Filipino and South Korean talents.

Media giant ABS-CBN and South Korea-based entertainment company KAMP Global joined forces to bring the On Music Festival to the Mall of Asia Arena on November 3.

The event aims to celebrate “the diversity of love and music,” the organizers said.

There will be live performances from four Filipino artists and another four from South Korean stars. These eight performers will each have a 40- to 60-minute set with a live band.

Here’s a list of everything we know so far:

Lineup of artists

Last week, the organizers revealed the first lineup of artists who will perform at the On Music Festival.

These are OPM singers Moira dela Torre and Darren Espanto, Suho of K-pop boy group EXO, and three-member Korean indie band wave to earth.

Dela Torre is known for her heart-tugging songs such as Malaya, Paubaya, Tagpuan, Ikaw at Ako, and Tadhana. Espanto, who is dubbed Asia’s Pop Heartthrob, is known for his love songs Sana Tayo Na, Stuck, Sasagipin Kita, and Pabalik Sa’yo.

Suho released his first mini album, Self-Portrait, in 2020, where he showed different sides of himself other than being EXO’s leader. The album has six tracks, with Let’s Love being the lead single.

wave to earth, meanwhile, is known for their chill and relaxing songs that are written both in Korean and English. Their latest album 0.1 flaws and all. has 14 tracks, divided into two discs. This includes bad, love., and peach eyes, among others.

On August 22, Pinoy folk-pop band Ben&Ben, Filipino singer-songwriter Adie, Korean indie folk duo MeloMance, and South Korean singer-songwriter Seori were added to the roster of artists.

The award-winning nine-piece folk-pop band recently released their new single Could Be Something that talks about “turning doubt into belief.” Among their relatable songs are Di Ka Sayang, Leaves, The Once We Love, Kathang Isip, and Lifetime.

Adie is among the rising artists in the Philippines, with his songs such as Mahika, Paraluman, Tahanan, and Dungaw amassing millions of streams.

The folk duo, on the other hand, debuted in March 2015 in South Korea, with the extended play Sentimental. The duo dropped their latest single A Shining Day in May 2023.

The 26-year-old Korean singer-songwriter has collaborated with several K-pop acts, such as Tomorrow X Together for 0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You), former Day6 member eaJ for Dive with you, and Mamamoo’s Moonbyul for Shutdown. Seori released her latest six-track EP ?depacse ohw in 2020.
