ASIA Society, in partnership with ASEAN Society, held a forum titled “Strengthening Unity, Driving Prosperity” on Tuesday, August 19 in Bonifacio Global City.
The event was held to commemorate 58 fruitful years of regional cooperation between ASEAN nations. It also aimed to celebrate the participating countries’ “achievements in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity across Southeast Asia.”
Newly appointed Foreign Affairs Secretary Hon. Maria Theresa P. Lazaro delivered a keynote speech for the event.
Also notable guests of honor were ASEAN Ambassadors namely H.E. Sin Saream, from the Royal Embassy of Cambodia; H.E. Agus Widjojo, from the Republic of Indonesia; H.E. Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino of Malaysia; H.E. Mrs. Makawadee Sumitmor, from the Kingdom of Thailand; and H.E. Lai Thai Binh, from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The panel of ASEAN Ambassadors shared their country’s strategies and practices in furthering the shared goals on the ASEAN region in terms of “unity, economic integration, and cultural understanding”.
