Elections while still next year, but the pot has been cooking with prominent names being floated as being considered under the senatorial ticket of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
Earlier, President Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) forged an alliance with the Nacionalista party of former Speaker and businessman Manny Villar.
A meeting was held by the political leaders allied with the administration at the Aguado Residence in Malacanang to strategize for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
It unified the major key personalities for the President’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), the Nacionalista Party (NP), and the National Unity Party (NUP) ticket.
According to NUP president and Camarines Sur 2nd District Rep. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte among those strongly being considered led by Former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III (NPC); House Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar (Nacionalista); Sen. Pia Cayetano (Nacionalista); Sen. Imee Marcos (Nacionalista); Sen. Bong Revilla (Lakas); Sen. Francis Tolentino (Independent, ex-PDP) and DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos (PFP) .
“Membership and loyalty to the party… If they are really in accordance with the vision of the Bagong Pilipinas.. Then winnability, of course… Importante po ‘yan. May internal surveys naman na being conducted by various members of the alliance,” Villafuerte said.
Sen. Marcos meanwhile included former Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Cong. Erwin Tulfo, former Sen. Ping Lacson, and Makati City Mayor Abby Binay.
However, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., the National President of the PFP clarified that they had yet to make any official choice for their allied party.
“Mayroon pong mga report na lumabas tungkol sa senatorial line up ng Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas. Nais ko pong linawin sa taong bayan na wala pa pong line up ang administration para sa mga kandidatong Senador,” he said
“Ang nangyari po kagabi ay pinag-submit ang ibat-ibang Partido na sumusuporta sa administration ni Presidente Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. ng kanilang mga kandidato hangang September 15.,” he added.
“Kaya ang anumang umiikot na listahan ay walang katotohanan. Kami ay magbibigay ng anunsiyo ng senatorial line up ng administration pagkatapos itong mapagpasyahan ng lahat na kasapi ng Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” he ended.
