Comelec warns public vs. disinformation in social media

BARANGAY and Sangguniang Kabataan election—mostly known as BSKE was scheduled to be held on October 30. Just like every other election, the BSKE is held for a reason to choose the right people to comply with their roles by doing their duties and responsibilities. 

The Sangguniang Kabataan is first established in the year of 1975. Sangguiniang Kabataan is the successor of the Kabataan Barangay (KB) and the primary reason on why they established this is give youth a chance to be involved in community affairs. 

Each Sangguniang Kabataan will have the composition of a chairperson, a secretary, a treasurer, and seven members. 

While a lot of people are currently keeping their eye on the ongoing BSKE election, the COMELEC (Commision on Elections) had released a public advisory by giving warnings on election-related disinformation. 

On an X post made by the COMELEC’s account, they advise the public to first verify the information they’ve encountered before posting, reposting, or sharing them. 

“Let us stay vigilant and discerning as Election Day approaches,” COMELEC added. 

COMELEC had also stated to visit their website and official social media account for true and verified election-related information. 

For the BSKE Quick statistics, according to Election Records and Statistics Department, Commission on Elections—is it estimated that there are 91,094,822 voters in total for the ongoing election with 67,839,861 being Barangay Voters and 23,254,961 SK Voters.    

As for the position, it is estimated that 42,001 for Punong Barangay and 294,007 members for Sangguniang Barangay. Meanwhile, there are 42,001 for SK Chairman and 294,007, members Sangguniang Kabataan with the total of 672,016 people running for the positions.  

The election will also be held in 42,001 barangays, 149 cities, and 1,485 municipalites. 

Upon voting in, there’s 37,341 Voting Centers with 201,793 Clustered Precincts. It is also counted that 605,379 (excluding DepEd supervising officers [DESOs] and support staff) will be participating as the Members of Electoral Boards.
