THE University of Sto. Tomas (UST), De La Salle University (DLSU) announced class suspension on February 25 for the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary.
In a memorandum released by the University of Sto. Tomas Office of the Secretary-General, they encourage Thomasians to participate in the activities that commemorate the People Power Revolution and their fight against the two-decade Marcos Sr. dictatorship.
“As we commemorate the EDSA People Power Revolution, we are reminded of the power of unity, courage, and peaceful action. Let us stand united and never forget that the true power lies in the people’s collective will. It is our responsibility to uphold the values of integrity, justice, and freedom for generations to come.”
Aside from UST, De La Salle University had also announced the class suspension and school operations in February and will instead shift into an “Alternative Learning Day.”
“To commemorate the EDSA People Power Revolution, classes at all levels and work on all campuses of the University are called off on February 25, 2025. Students and faculty, are encouraged to participate in activities commemorating the event during this Alternative Learning Day.” The university announced,
DLSU then added that all campuses shall remain open for the holding of alternative activities, meanwhile, libraries will be closed.
A similar announcement was also made by the De La Salle Araneta University, suspending classes and school operations to commemorate the EDSA anniversary.
Aside from UST and DLSU, several universities have also canceled their classes for the EDSA People Power anniversary:
- Benilde Manila, Benilde Antipolo, Benilde Deaf School and Benilde Senior High
- Edsa-Ortigas (Edsor) Consortium Schools (Immaculate Conception Academy, La Salle Green Hills, Saint Pedro Poveda College and Xavier School)
- General De Jesus College
- Holy Child Catholic School
- Imus Institute
- University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu
