SEVERAL groups, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), will receive a 40% discount on all food and beverages on Wednesday, January 24, Starbucks Philippines announced on Tuesday.
The same privilege was also extended to national athletes, eligible solo parents, and Medal of Valor recipients.
”Eligible customers can avail of this discount for their exclusive use and personal consumption upon presenting a valid, original, actual, and/or physical identification card (ID),” Starbucks Philippines said.
”Offer is valid in all Starbucks stores in the Philippines via dine-in, take-out, and drive-thru. Offer is not valid for Mobile Order & Pay, GrabFood, Foodpanda and Pick-a-roo transactions.”
The offer comes after Starbucks apologized for the signage that restricted the discounts available to senior citizens and PWDs.
The questioned signage limits the seniors’ and PWDs’ 20% discount and 12% value-added tax (VAT) exemptions to one food item and one drink per visit.
At a hearing called by the House of Representatives’ ways and means committee on January 17, Starbucks Philippines operations manager Angela Cole said they ‘’fully acknowledge the error in the signage.’’
“It is not properly worded, and we are taking full accountability. We acknowledge the mistake,” she said, adding that the signage was ”immediately removed” from their stores.
