Fnatic ONIC PH held ‘Stream for a Cause’ for Kristine victims

by Bryan Gadingan

THE MPL Philippines Season 14 champions, Fnatic ONIC PH, have now altered their focus. After being crowned, they are now supporting other Filipino residents who have been touched by Kristine PH.

Following a stunning season in the MPL, ONIC PH turned their focus for a moment, doing their part to assist Filipino communities that were severely impacted by the severe tropical storm that raged for the previous week.

These pro-players from the esports industry, like other individuals, are creating waves in their respective scenes and have the heart and platform to aid the devastated areas in their own unique ways.

Heart of a champion

The champion team’s King “K1NGKONG” Perez and Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez held a webcast on Facebook to solicit donations for individuals affected by heavy rains and flooding.

ONIC’s official Facebook page earlier announced the “Stream for a Cause” that they were planning to pull more traction online. The funds they raised will be used particularly for relief operations.

According to the team, the earnings of the stream and donations from their followers, which will be made public via a transparency report, will be donated to Tanging Yaman Foundation Inc.

“Let’s raise funds for #KristinePH relief operations for those affected by the calamity,” said on ONIC PH’s Facebook post. “All proceeds will be donated to Tanging Yaman Foundation Inc.”

ONIC PH recently defeated the comebacking Aurora 4-3 in the MPL Philippines Season 14 Championship series, breaking their curse and claiming their first-ever title in league history.

Weather Updates

Based on the PAGASA report, Kristine will continue to move over the West Philippine Sea until tomorrow, then loop counterclockwise on Sunday and Monday before moving eastward for the remainder of the forecast period.

However, this scenario is strongly dependent on the behavior of tropical cyclone “KONG-REY” at the east of PAR, as well as the behavior of other synoptic weather systems around Kristine at the West Philippine Sea.

This tropical cyclone is expected to gradually strengthen over the western Philippine Sea. It is probable that the tropical cyclone will remain in the severe tropical storm category for the next two days.

However, the possibility of it developing into a typhoon is not ruled out. A decreasing trend is also forecast by early next week, owing to a probable surge of northeasterly wind flow over the West Philippine Sea.
