Potato Corner says sorry for ‘inappropriate job posting’

by Carl Santos

Popular snack brand Potato Corner apologized on Monday for a job posting that many people on social media perceived to be discriminatory.

Netizens called out Potato Corner after one job posting stated that service crew applicants must have a weight that is ”proportionate” to their height, ”good visual impact,” a ”clear complexion,” and a ”good set of teeth.”

Some individuals even compared the selection criteria to those used in beauty pageants.

”We at Potato Corner had an embarrassing moment over the weekend, involving a well-meaning but inappropriate job posting being released. So we hope to set things right,” Potato Corner said in a statement.

”It may have been amusing for some, but we are in fact taking this seriously. We deeply regret the incident.”

Potato Corner said it was reviewing its procedures and ”teaming up with our valued business partners, franchisees, and suppliers to make sure that situations like this won’t happen again.”

”Discriminatory hiring is not something we support or condone and [is not aligned with] who we are. We’re all about providing equal opportunities for all and giving fair recognition and reward to effort, attitude, potential, and creating positive outcomes,” it added.

”We remain committed to fostering an environment and society where every single person gets a fair chance to contribute and succeed.”
