PLANE tickets are expected to be cheaper next month due to a lower fuel surcharge.
In an advisory, the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) said it lowered the passenger and cargo fuel surcharge for domestic and international flights from Level 6 to 5 for the February 1–29, 2024 period.
Level 5 fuel surcharges range from P151 to P542 for domestic passenger flights, depending on the distance traveled, and from P498.03 to P3,703.11 for international passenger flights that depart from the Philippines.
Depending on the length of the flight, travelers will pay fuel surcharges ranging from P185 to P665 under Level 6.
The surcharge for flights abroad varies from P610.37 to P4,538.40.
The CAB’s decision, which was guided by the movement of jet fuel prices, was welcomed by PAL, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia Philippines.
‘’With the decrease in fuel surcharge, we’re excited to offer even more affordable flights,’’ Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer, said.
