THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported at least one confirmed death and two others missing as heavy rains brought about by the southwest monsoon or habagat caused floods and landslides in many parts of Mindanao.
According to the report of the NDRRMC, a total of 9,862 families or 38,736 persons from 85 villages in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region and Soccskargen are affected.

Of the said number, 2,687 families or 9,973 individuals are in 54 active evacuation centers.
Meanwhile, 31 houses were partially damaged and 16 are totally damaged due to the floods.

Reports said that in Malabang, Lanao del Sur, residents assisted a car that was stuck in the floodwaters.

According to the Lanao del Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, more than 5,000 families are affected by the floods.
In the Sarangani Province, the water that came from the mountain flowed to highways in Maitum town, and waist-deep floods were recorded in Kiamba.

Meanwhile, in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, a road remained impassable as of presstime due to a landslide. Clearing operations were ongoing.
