mmda offers
THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has dangled a P10,000 reward to any information that will lead to the apprehension of a motorcycle rider pretending to be a traffic constable who was trying to extort money from motorists.
According to MMDA Acting Chairman Romando “Don” Artes he has been informed of the video that had been circulating on social media, it showed a man asking money from a motorist that he flagged down over an alleged traffic violation.
Artes flatly stated that the suspect is not an employee or traffic enforcer of MMDA.
The motorists victim was able to record their conversation.
The victim asked for an ID, but the man immediately fled.
“Upon verification po hindi po namin ito empleyado at nagpapanggap po na empleyado ng MMDA para mang-extort po ng pera sa ating mga motorista,” Artes said.
He said that he hoped that the reward will help the MMDA identify the man pretending to be an MMDA enforcer and bring him to court.
The MMDA even posted on their official Facebook page a picture of the said rider wearing a black jacket or raincoat and a helmet, with his face clearly visible.
Artes believes the rider will soon be identified with the help of the public.
