MMDA: Number coding in effect on Monday; Rerouting enforced
THE number coding scheme will be in effect on Monday, July 22, 2024, the third State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
This was announced by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
“May mga nagtatanong kung suspended ba ang number coding scheme, hindi po. Tuloy po ang number coding scheme dahil kung isususpend po namin ‘yan ay dadami po ang mga sasakyan sa lansangan na lalong magpapasikip ng traffic,” MMDA Acting Chairperson Romando Artes told reporters.
“Any additional vehicles po ay makakadagdag sa congestion,” he added.
According to the MMDA traffic plan for the SONA 2024, a zipper lane will be opened on the southbound portion of Commonwealth Avenue for guests and officials.
Meanwhile, the Batasan-IBP Road will be closed at 8:00 am.

For Northbound (Quezon Memorial Circle to Fairview)
Vehicles coming from the Elliptical Road should take North Avenue, then make a right turn at Mindanao Avenue, then right turn to Sauyo Road or take Quirino Highway to reach the point of destination
For Southbound (Fairview to Quezon Memorial Circle)
Vehicles coming from Commonwealth Avenue are advised to take Sauyo Road or Quirino Highway, then make a turn left at Mindanao Avenue, then another left at North Avenue to reach the point of destination

Meanwhile, light vehicles from C5 Road are advised to turn left at Magiting St., turn right at Maginhawa St., and turn left at Mayaman St. to Kalayaan Avenue to reach the point of destination.
Trucks on the other hand coming from C-5 along Katipunan Avenue should take Luzon Flyover and then turn left at Congressional Avenue to reach the point of destination.
The MMDA will be deploying more than 1,320 personnel for traffic management, road clearing, and crowd control.
