Metro Manila, 36 others to experience ‘dangerous’ levels of heat today

DESPITE the recent rain trying to cool down a toasted Philippines, state weather forecasters said that aside from Metro Manila, 36 other areas are expected to experience possible dangerous levels of heat index today, May 15, 2024.

Among the possible areas, Dagupan City, Pangasinan may experience up to 47°C heat index.

For those for who may experience 46°C heat include: CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur  and Roxas City, Capiz.

On the other hand those who may experience 45°C heat index include Bacnotan, La Union and Virac (Synop), Catanduanes

A 44°C heat index may be experienced by residents in: MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; Aparri, Cagayan; Alabat, Quezon; Cuyo, Palawan; Masbate City, Masbate; Dumangas, Iloilo; Catarman, Northern Samar; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur. 

Naia in Pasay City will experience 43°C along with: Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; ISU Echague, Isabela; Iba, Zambales; Sangley Point, Cavite; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas: Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Catbalogan, Samar; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

Meanwhile, the Science Garden in Quezon City will experience 42°C heat index along with Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo City; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Daet, Camarines Norte; Legazpi City, Albay; Mambusao, Capiz; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Maasin, Southern Leyte; and 

Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte.

Cooler temperatures may be felt in Baguio City and La Trinidad in Benguet with 25°C.

The heat index refers to the temperature that the body feels.

It is computed by factoring in the humidity and the air temperature.
