Maynilad: Water supply in south now safe to drink

by Kiko Cueto

WATER utility Maynilad said that their customers in the southern area can now consume water coming from the tap.

According to the advisory of the water distributor this superseded their June 1 advisory which said that faucet water of customers in Las Piñas, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Bacoor and Imus was not potable, as they advised the public then to not drink it.

According to Maynilad Water Supply Operations Head Ronald Padua, it can now be used even for cooking beginning June 3.

Padua explained that the water supplied by Maynilad is safe to drink due to health standards imposed by the government.

However, the water concessionaires only guarantee the potability up to the meter.

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS)is already investigating complaints against Maynilad related to frequent interruptions and water quality.
