COMMUTERS will be allowed to board LRT-2 trains for free on Saturday, December 30, in celebration of Rizal Day.
Free trips are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Light Rail Transit Authority announced on Thursday.
One of the country’s heroes and the author of novels that tackle social issues, Dr. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish colonial government on December 30, 1896, after being found guilty of rebellion, sedition, and conspiracy.
His death became a catalyst for the Philippine Revolution against Spain.
