ATTENTION students!
For those riding the LRT Lines 1 and 2 as well as the MRT, the fares will be slashed by 50 percent for single journey tickets for now.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) the promo started on June 20, where students can enjoy a 50 percent discount on their train fares.
It is an increase from the previous 20 percent student discount.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said that the expanded discount is for all students, including those that are enrolled in postgraduate studies.
They can be availed every day, including weekends and holidays.
Dizon said that the said discounts are available to single journey tickets, as it has yet to be made available for Beep cards or store-valued tickets.

To be able to get the discount, the DOTr said that students simply need to buy tickets at the counter and then present their IDs within the current school year.

The 50 percent discount is effective until 2028.
