Six dead due to landslide and drowning in Antipolo City

ANTIPOLO City: A total of six people were confirmed as dead due to a landslide incident and drowning at the height of the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Enteng,  the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

In an interview, CDRRMO Chief Relly Bernardo said that two houses along Sitio Inapao in Brgy. San Jose fell victim to landslides.

Three died on the spot including two minors. According to Bernardo, they were aged 12 and 15 respectively.

The third landslide victim was a 27-year-old pregnant woman, the neighbor of the children.

Drowning incidents were also recorded as two were recorded along Brgy. San Luis, a 4 four year old and a 44-year old female.

Another one was recorded along Sitio Banaba. One was reported missing.

“We had been trying to conduct forced evacuation but some just won’t listen. We are not blaming anybody, we do not want casualties, we hope they would follow the village officials immediately,” Bernardo said.

Presently, Bernardo said that search, rescue and retrieval is being undertaken by the LGU.
