Quiboloy seeks hospital arrest

by Kiko Cueto

APOLLO Quiboloy, the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ has asked a Pasig City Regional Trial Court to place him under hospital arrest, citing his age and various ailments.

In a press briefing PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said that the camp of Quiboloy has filed before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159, a motion seeking for a hospital arrest for Quiboloy and another accused, Ingrid Canada.

“Nag-motion din po ang mga abogado po nina Quiboloy na malipat po itong si Quiboloy at Ingrid Canada doon po sa [Veterans Memorial Medical Center] po sa Davao because, accordingly, mayroon po silang mga existing medical condition at nahihirapan po sila sa custodial facility,” Fajardo said.

Quiboloy is presently detained along with the other co-accused at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

The court had asked the PNP to let Quiboloy and Canada undergo a medical check up with government doctors.

While awaiting for the result, he will stay with the PNP detention facility.

The other four co-accused was being asked to be taken to the Pasig City Jail.

“Si Pastor Quiboloy po, pending resolution sa kanilang motion to be checked by the medical doctors na ipo-provide ng government, maiiwan muna siya pansamantala sa custodial center,” sabi ni Fajardo.

Quiboloy and his co-accused are facing charges of violating the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, and qualified human trafficking.

He had served a not guilty plea before the court on the accusations.

He is also facing charges in the United States, including conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion and sex trafficking of children; sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion; conspiracy; and bulk cash smuggling.

Meanwhile, two of the five alleged sex slavery victims of Quiboloy expressed willingness to testify against him.

“Doon sa five, ang dalawa ang decided talaga na mag-testify. Yung tatlo nag-iisip pa,” Davao City Police chief Police Colonel Hansel Marantan said in a radio interview.

“We cannot force them kasi by forcing them baka they might be reminded of Quiboloy ka pala e, fino-force mo kami,” he also said.

Quiboloy used minors as his “sex slaves” as young as 12 years old.

“At the average, 12 to 13 years old na nag-start sila as, well I call it sex slaves, sex slaves sila ni Quiboloy. Kasi grabe ang attraction ni Quiboloy sa mga minors na ito, that is why I called him a pedophile,” Marantan said.

At the same time, Marantan said that over 15 more minors need to be rescued inside the KOJC compound in Davao City.
