Quiboloy hospitalized over irregular heart beat

by Kiko Cueto

DETAINED Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was taken to the hospital Friday last week, after complaining of chest pain and was determined to have an irregular heartbeat.

This was confirmed on Monday by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

According to PNP information chief and spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, Quiboloy, is currently at the Philippine Heart Center.

He is undergoing a thorough medical examination.

Quiboloy was granted a medical furlough by the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC).

According to Fajardo, the pastor had been experiencing chest discomfort on Thursday (Nov. 7) prompting the PNP General Hospital (PNPGH) to conduct an electrocardiogram (ECG) on him.

Results of the examination showed that Quiboloy is suffering from an atrial fibrillation in rapid ventricular response or irregularity in heartbeat, which is considered as a “life threatening” condition, considering his previous heart related procedures in 2009 and 2022.

The PNPGH recommended that he undergo further medical examination in a more equipped hospital which was granted by the Pasig Regional Trial Court.

“Last Nov. 7 kasi ay nag complain ng chest discomfort si Apollo Quiboloy that prompted the PNP General Hospital to conduct medical examination at lumabas doon sa medical examination na kinonduct ng Health Service ay meron siyang irregular heartbeat that may be considered life threatening ang kanilang recommendation ay ma-check siya further to check kung ito bang kanyang kinocomplain na pagsasakit ng dibdib ay maaari could lead a more serious cases kaya noong Friday pursuant to a court order issued by RTC Pasig ay dinala si Apollo Quiboloy at supposedly today ay by noon ay nakabalik dito sa PNP custodial center at nandoon na in fact yung mga security convoy para ibalik siya dito,” said Fajardo.

Quiboloy was transferred to PHC on November 8 and was allowed by the court to stay there until November 16 for the conduct of more medical tests.

Fajardo said the PNP complied with the order and will bring back Quiboloy to the PNP Custodial Center not later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 16.

Like I said, the doctors have to take into consideration yung previous medical procedures done to him,” she added.

Quiboloy is currently facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig court.

Quiboloy was arrested in September at the KOJC compound in Davao City after more than two weeks of operation.
