PNP to public: Refrain from using illegal firecrackers

by Kiko Cueto

THE Philippine National Police-Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG) has issued a reminder to the public to refrain from using prohibited firecrackers for the coming revelry for the New Year.

The PNP-CSG said that this is to ensure safety and compliance with the law.

Bocaue, Bulacan, home to various firecracker sellers, had seen fewer buyers this year as based on a television report.

The PNP-CSG told the public that Executive Order 28 and Republic Act 7183 are being enforced. These are the firecracker-regulation use.

It listed 28 firecrackers as being banned.

Among them include: Watusi, Piccolo, Five Star (Bog), Pla-Pla, Lolo Thunder, and Unique variants like Super Yolanda and Goodbye Chismosa.

According to police, the public should just use safe alternatives such as community fireworks displays.

The PNP said that the public should be simply attending community fireworks displays instead of setting off firecrackers at home.

They said that it is the safest way to usher in the New Year.
